ABOUT US
Jordan and Devon Jubb started Showdown Stables in the spring of 2018. Showdown Stables is a continuation of Showtyme Stables owned by Jordan’s mother and prior to that, Showcase Stables owned by his grandmother. Showtyme Stables was officially founded in 2003 but operated under other names previously. Rosemarie had been working with horses since she was born and had been breeding quality miniature schnauzers since 1990 and she wanted to pass on her legacy to her only son, Jordan.
Rosemarie spent years teaching Jordan everything he was willing to learn about horses and showing him everything she could. In 2016, Jordan got married to a city girl with a love for all animals and a desire to move to the country. Together they are carrying on Rosemarie’s passions while also exploring their own.
Jordan and Devon purchased an acreage in the Edmonton area in the summer of 2018. They plan for this to be their first and last home together. The high-quality animals that Rosemarie left to them have made the trip up north from Lethbridge to Edmonton and they love their new home.
We are happily located in Sherwood Park, Alberta, Canada.
Devon was born and raised in South-East Edmonton. She always had a passion for animals, as a child she dreamed of being a vet or crazy cat lady. As she grew up, she realized that she was afraid of needles, and she discovered that ‘crazy cat lady’ was not a term of endearment.
She began to develop her business skills, tenacity, and mental toughness at a young age. She swam competitively for the Edmonton Keyano Swim Club for 14 years. Blessed to represent not only her club team and University team, she also competed as part of Team Alberta and Team Canada. Devon retired in December of 2016 due to a double shoulder injury. Despite her efforts to get back into the water, life has its way of taking over and the opportunity to re-join the competitive world did not present itself. Instead she focused on her career as a Mechanical Engineer and has enjoyed progressing in her field as a junior rotating machinery specialist.
Devon is the primary caretaker of all the animals on the farm. In her spare time she works with the animals and enjoys learning new and better ways to care for the animals. Many evenings are spent researching and learning about dogs, horses, chickens and better ways to breed, feed, and train.
Jordan grew up in southern Alberta and has lived his whole life in the country. His mother owned every kind of animal you could think of, and then some.
Jordan has lots of experience in animal care including horses, dogs, goats, sheep, cattle, and more. While growing up, Jordan learned the ins and outs of the farm and is well versed in fixing things as they break (and everything always breaks on the farm lol). Without his skills in repairs, we would not have much of a farm. Jordan is a certified Journeyman Electrician and works full time as a Supervisor in a fabrication shop in Sherwood Park. He likes to spend his spare time hunting and fishing.
Our Miniature Schanuzer breeding program is the main focus of our farm and our primary passion.
